Nelson Nguyen has been a tennis pro in Central Indiana for nearly 20 years. He is a USPTA certified tennis professional, as well as being USTA Net Generation and Safe Play certified.
He started playing tennis in his teen years and played varsity tennis at Arsenal Technical High School. He continued playing tennis recreationally in college and was recruited to become a tennis instructor in 2001. Nelson joined PATC when its doors first opened in February of 2017. At PATC Nelson runs various junior clinics for all ages, including Red Ball, Orange Ball, and Green Ball junior development classes. He also spends time coaching in our Middle School and High School clinics. Nelson enjoys working with adults and runs several adult cardio tennis classes and Men’s Drill Clinics, as well as assisting with the Central Indiana Women’s Indoor Tennis League (CIWITL) Q Team and practices. In addition Nelson serves as the PATC USTA League coordinator.
Nelson has also been a scholastic coach starting at his alma mater Arsenal Tech, then moving on to be the Freshman Coach at Ben Davis High School, followed by the Middle School Coach and Assistant High School Coach at the International School of Indiana. From there, Nelson moved to coaching in the Zionsville Community Schools where he has coached for over 15 years starting as the Boys Tennis Coach for Zionsville Middle School, followed by helping start the Zionsville West Middle School Program and finally as the current assistant coach at Zionsville Community High School Boys Tennis Team.
Nelson likes watching pro football and tennis; spending time with his wife, Rachel, and two kids, Lucy and Tim; and keeping up with the latest in technology and tennis.
